Exploring Berlin with Canon Deutschland

Thanks for coming back to my blog guys.

A few weeks ago, Canon Deutschland was so kind to provide me with a Canon EOS 6D Mark II and a Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM for testing. My first impressions of the camera and lens are really positive, everything feels very valuable and solid. On top of that, I really like the practicability of the swiveling display on the back.

Here are some images of the equipment:

Setting up the camera at home was a breeze and getting familiar with its features and dials didn’t take long. I really couldn’t wait to try it out in the field.

Luckily, I’m living in Berlin and the city offers so many great places to explore and shoot. Here are some shots I was able to take with the Canon EOS 6D Mark II:

I’m really happy with the results that are coming out of the camera, the colours are looking so natural, the focus is really reliable and generally I really love the handiness of the camera, even though it’s a full-frame DSLR. Well done Canon.

Next to architecture and travel photography, I’m also into shooting lifestyle portraits. Therefore I decided to give it a try with the Canon EOS 6D Mark II as well. A good friend of mine has some more Canon gear and allowed me to borrow his Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM. During the shoot with Anne , I felt really comfortable using the equipment, the focus was spot on and from the display I could already see that the skin tones come out so naturally. Something which Canon is well-known for and which was not always given while shooting with my previous gear.

Here you can see two examples from the shooting, both images only needed minor editing:

Even though it was already pretty dark while shooting the second picture, the tones really look stunning and the pictures came out tack sharp.

The following days, I wanted to shoot even more architecture and cityscapes, also trying to test out the camera again when the sun is already set, and to see how the images stand up to processing them in Adobe Lightroom afterwards. The results are pretty impressive:

Having the equipment provided by Canon also led me to explore places in Berlin which I’ve never shooted before. Sometimes a great look up is just around the corner and with the Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM those can be captured perfectly.

The Canon EOS 6D Mark II used together with the Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM feels really good in my hands and is way lighter than expected. For me as a female shooter, these are still important features which I don’t want to give up. Next to that, I really enjoy shooting with it due to its reliability and overall speed.

Thanks again to Canon Deutschland for providing me with that equipment for testing.
