Hey you, nice to have you here on my blog again.
Last week, my friend Maribel and I were able to experience a short getaway from the busy streets of Marrakech into the Agafay desert.
The Agafay desert is located 30 kilometres south of Marrakech, which makes it a convenient excursion if you don’t want to spend too many hours on the roads. The route heading towards the famous Atlas mountains already offers great views. But when we arrived at the Scarabeo Camp, which is a luxury camp in the middle of nowhere, we were mindblown.
Since we both never did a glamorous camping, we didn’t really know what to expect. Therefore let me tell you that we were more than enthusiastic when arriving at the scenery. The camp consists of a couple of luxury private tents, all offering a seperate outside area to relax and enjoy the amazing views on the desert. On top of that, the facility of course offers different dining areas, a place to enjoy a campfire, some chillout areas and even areas to have some Yoga sessions. Visitors can also book beauty treatments, camel riding, quad tours, stargazing sessions and more.
After having stored our stuff in the tent, we started to explore the camp and its views. Here you’ll get some first impressions:
After enjoying these views on the camp, we decided to explore more of the area around it. There’re no marked ways, you basically just walk around and enjoy the beautiful surrounding. While doing so, we saw some people riding on camels, others driving through the desert on quads:
After this stroll through the desert, we were ready for a shower in our luxurious tent and just got ready for an amazing and colourful sunset:
Following, we had a great candle light dinner in one of the dining tents, while listening to some live music. The food was awesome and the athmosphere was totally laid-back.
Later that evening, we were relaxing next to our own fireplace in our tent, just before getting out again and enjoy some stargazing thanks to a clear sky. The ones of you that ever spend a night outside in the desert know that this is one of a kind. We slept well in our comfortable bed, listening to the crackling fire and woke up super relaxed to enjoy one more meal in the camp- a very decent breakfast before leaving the camp to head back to Marrakech.
I can only recommend the whole experience of a luxurious camping in the desert, whether it’s in Morocco or somewhere else. If you’re visiting Marrakech, I can totally recommend the Scarabeo Camp. Thanks again for having us and let us being able to experience something like this.
