Exploring Asian megacities with the TAMRON 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III RXD

I’ve recently teamed up with TAMRON to use their 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III RXD lens on my Sony A7. Due to its zoom functionality, this lens is immensely versatile while still offering a f2.8 aperture throughout the whole range. This is quite handy for lowlight photography as well as subject separation. On top of this, it’s built very compact and lightweight, which makes it fit nicely on the Sony mirrorless cameras. These features make it the perfect travel lens for almost any situation.

In December, I was travelling through Asia for four weeks, including megacities like Shanghai, Hong Kong and Macau. This was the perfect time to try out the 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III RXD lens in the field.

The first stop of my trip brought me to Shanghai, which is a huge city offering a lot of interesting architecture, from traditional chinese temples to one of the most impressive skylines in the world.

After having an awesome time in Shanghai, Hong Kong was calling. Since it was already my second visit here, I was looking for revisiting some places I’ve seen before and on the other hand, I also found some new spots during research. Hong Kong has the highest population density in the world, which requires a lot of residential houses and buildings in general. The diversity of the city is huge, especially comparing the old part of Hong Kong with a lot of traditional chinese buildings and streets to the modern one with a lot of futuristic architecture.

The third stop was Macau, which is mostly known for its gambling and casinos, since this is illegal in mainland China. Nevertheless, it’s a photographer’s dream when it comes to interesting architecture. As well as Shanghai and Hong Kong, it offers a huge variety from traditional chinese architecture to very modern casinos and other architectural masterpieces, like the famous Morpheus building, designed by the Zaha Hadid Architects.

Despite of all the diversity of these places, the TAMRON 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III RXD lens was performing outstandingly, even in lowlight situations. On top of that, the light weight and the easy usage of the lens let it become the perfect partner during your travels.
