Exploring San Francisco with The Marker

Welcome back to my blog. Only two weeks ago, I’ve spent some days in San Francisco while staying at The Marker, a San Francisco Hotel. It’s a Beaux-Arts style hotel, perfectly located in the heart of the city, close to the famous Union Square. The location has been key to explore this vibrant city at its best.

Among many other things, San Francisco is famous for its hills and cable cars. Only a few blocks away from the hotel, you can get an amazing view on them, driving down into the direction of the Bay Bridge.

The Bay Bridge connects San Francisco and Oakland and itsself is a very photogenic attraction.

Another very popular photo spot is Lombard Street. It’s especially famous for its steep, one-block section with eight hairpin turns and therefore is claimed to be the crookedest street in the world. It’s usually very packed with tourists but you can still get amazing views.

If you do some research on the most popular sightseeing spots in San Francisco, the world famous Golden Gate Bridge is usually number one. It has even been declared to be one of the Wonders of the Modern World. There are quite a few places to get nice views on the bridge, one of the best ones you can definitely get from Presidio. Especially during sunset you can get very lucky with a colourful sky.

In case you have a car, you can actually also drive over the bridge and head to Battery Spencer to get an overlook over the bridge with the city of San Francisco in the background. If you want to get a picture like this, make sure to bring your telephoto lens along.

As with any other cities that offers a nice skyline, it’s always worth it to get views from high above. A very good way to do so is to visit one of the plenty rooftop bars.

San Francisco is an amazing city to visit and offers so much to explore. I had an awesome time and definitely will be back. A central location makes it so much easier and convenient to get around. The Marker San Francisco was the perfect feel-good oasis for us after a full day of exploring. Thanks again for having us.
